Input monitoring allows you to hear your audio signal from an external source, e. This differs from direct monitoring because the audio is feed from your audio interface directly to your studio monitors or headphones, completely bypassing your DAW and computer. Another difference is that there will be zero latency when monitoring a source directly, whereas input monitoring may introduce some latency.

The input monitoring button will turn orange when enabled. You should now be able to hear the audio coming into Logic from your audio interface. By default we can only monitor one track at a time in Logic. So to get past this limitation we need to enable some settings in Logic so we can have full control over monitoring our inputs.

If there are other options you wish to enable, then check them as well. My results are it was on. Turned off I get no monitor in playback. Turned on, same thing.

If it is off- I hit play- turn Software Monitoring on while playing- then I can hear myself during playback.. Oh my. Yes, all is good now. Odd, I never touched that, and it had never been an issue before. Thank you. Posted March 2, Macmini 3.

You can also manage latency caused by plug-ins using Low Latency Mode while recording. Set the sample rate for your project when you first create it. Higher sample rates result in less input monitoring latency. However, projects with higher sample rates create larger audio files, which can increase the load on the processor and the disk of your Mac.

Plug-ins also require more processing power at higher sample rates. No luck with this. These were both on by default. Still can't hear during playback. What is the reasoning behind this? Seems like input monitoring on Logic Pro X is overly complicated.

Plug-ins also require more processing power at higher sample rates. However, smaller buffer sizes require more processing power, which can cause system overload alerts. Roundtrip latency is the total amount of input monitoring latency you'll experience from audio input to audio output. Certain plug-ins can contribute to input monitoring latency, particularly dynamics plug-ins with look-ahead functions.

If you're using these kinds of plug-ins in inpur project, you llgic minimise the latency they produce while recording using Low Latency Mode. Low Latency Mode bypasses plug-ins as needed, so the amount of logic pro x input monitoring during playback free doesn't exceed the Limit setting in the Plug-in Latency section of the General Audio preferences of Logic Pro.

Low latency mode is especially useful when you want to record a software instrument in a project monitoirng includes latency-inducing plug-ins.

May 28,  · I get input monitoring on a new track when input monitor is turned on and track is record enabled but if I start playback input monitoring goes away. If I start recording input monitoring works again. This is a pain. Is there any way to get full-time input monitoring during record, stop, and playback conditions? Edit: Logic Pro X TIA-r. May 08,  · May 8, #4. Yes, Logic has its own way of doing things. When you enable Input Monitoring (without Record Enable), it just routes the Input to the output of the Channel Strip regardless of any conditions. That means when you play back your Track any Region will play back in addition to the input signal.

Make basic selections. Use transient markers to make selections. Set project tempo with selected audio. Edit and process audio in the Audio File Editor. Audio File Editor edit commands.
