In this case we don't want to do that. New connections will not be remembered. Set its value to 1.

Reboot after adding the registry entry and programs will be able to see mapped drives forever. Share this: Twitter Facebook. Like this: Like Loading Published by sukhdeepblogs. Leave a Reply Cancel reply Enter your comment here Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:.

Email required Address never made public. It's necessary if the computer sharing the files requires a password. Open the All Users Startup folder. Copy the BAT file from step 1 into the folder you uncovered in step 2.

Now, when any user logs in on that computer, the network drive you set up in the script will automatically connect.

A few things must be in place before network sharing is allowed in Windows If you're sure your computer is on the same network as the one sharing the files that's a necessity , keep these things in mind if you're having trouble mapping a network drive or using it once you've mapped it:.

Network discovery lets you see network computers and their shares. Make sure it's turned on in Control Panel. Expand the section that says current profile , and select Turn on network discovery. The computer doing the sharing i. Select Save changes , and then try again to map the network drive.

You must either have the login credentials for the user sharing the files with you, or their computer needs to be set up to allow sharing even if a password isn't provided. In the All Networks section, they can set up the latter by selecting Turn off password protected sharing via the same screen as above. You can configure the share to allow a certain number of users simultaneously.

It can even be limited to viewing the files only, meaning you can't edit or add anything to the network drive. When you're disconnecting the share in the context menu, it should be unmapping it as well but I've seen this disconnect between the GUI and what Windows is actually doing. The above can be easily scripted for your users, and with a bit of VBscript you could potentially have them enter in the Drive letter they wish to have disconnected.

This is not ideal but I know I've seen some weirdness with Windows hanging onto Drive letters even though they should have been unmapped. Use that article to delete the drive from the registry. I had the same issue but once I deleted the registry entry for it and remapped it I was good. Sign up to join this community. The best answers are voted up and rise to the top. I use a HP an desktop running Windows Vista. This works! I would never have suspected that the problem was a BIOS setting. Thanks for the good advice!

Both machines have paths of research with the root t: as the last path in the search list. Mounting on machine 1 is fine - seq files can be opened in teststand, sailed around, etc. As soon as you open a movie file using the open a TestStand sequence file dialog box, click anywhere on the IDE creates a large volume of network traffic and the IDE "hangs" for a few seconds I've seen as long as 5 and is completely insensitive there is a direct correlation between the 'pic' termination of network traffic and the TS IDE becomes sensitive.

I did a netstat - ano queries and I don't see new ports opened upwards, so all this is paid by the regular windows file sharing link. If I open directly from the w: drive, it is also the I was lucky enough to find the "do not open any files from within teststand" workaround and continue working normally.

If you have opened a file in the application, then you exit TS and restart it and all is well again. This is probably the problem. Subdirs, especially on a network drive to the research should generally be avoided. I would recommend against using the options "search subdirectories", even in the case not connected to the network, since then, not only can it lead to performance problems, it can make unintentionally using the incorrect module because the module where you want to say, if you come to specify the name of the file and rely on the recursive search could be ambiguous and have several possible matches.

It is best to use a fixed search with a partial if possible relative path directory. I can't start firefox. It is said that it can not load the profile. The profile files are there, I believer.
