Do a disk cleanup. At least not for now. Going by recent posts in the Windows Update forum, been associated with the presence of malware on systems that can not update.

I've run many disk cleaners and pretty sure I don't have malware and need to reinstall the BITS service so I can run the update service. I ran fix it but the problem was not fixed. Thank you!!! When I try to update recently I've been getting code I'm not sure when I've been able to update with no problems but it's been a while. All recent updates have failed. I have Windows 7 64bit. Don't remember the last successful update but all recent ones have failed. I get code when I try to update but when I went to the windows services to turn on the BITS service it's not even listed. In reply to A. User's post on July 6, Thank you so much! I got confused and kralcr in not my user name. I also have run Malwarebytes but had to remove it becuase there was a conflict. I will do the other things you mentioned and let you know how it works. I've now done what you suggested above that is I've run the CCleaner and the Kaspersky.
I'd already run the others and haven't turned up any overt malware that I can tell. Can I repair windows somehow. I don't seem to be able to from the system CD that I loaded from originally.
